One West Magazine Interview W/ Kokane

@Kokaneofficial

One West Magazine had the pleasure of interviewing Hip-Hop pioneer by all means of  the word , the ever so versatile artist Kokane. The Pomona, California native burst onto the scene signing to Eazy-E's Ruthless Records label at the end of 1989. Kokane would go on to construct a legacy in Hip-Hop music duplicated by few. The modern day music icon has worked with some of the industry's most notable acts including names such as Snoop Dogg, P-Diddy, George Clinton & Ice Cube to name a few.

Currently Kokane  aka  Jerry B. Long  (Owner/CEO) has his own independent record label called Bud E Boy Entertainment with distribution through IODA/SONY a (full service record label). With his wife Alicia Long serving as the company's Vice President, Kokane reflects on the importance of proper planning & the timing of events. "We all know with the 48 Laws of Power it's about the right preparation & timing", as Kokane quoted the 1998 Robert Greene bestseller. Kokane recently released a hot project entitled “The Legend Continues" which is available  in-stores and multiple online locations. The project features production by Likwit Crew producer Bonzi J Wells, Squeeze & fire vocals from C-BO, Caviar, & the late Kevin Michael Gulley aka KMG of Above The Law.

Kokane has been locked the in the lab completing his brand new album called “Shut Da F..k Up & Cut Da Checc” due to release January 10, 2014. His latest endeavor  includes heated appearances from Busta Rhymes, Kurupt, Daz, Richie Rich, B-Legit, Mac Lucci, & more. The heatseeker "What I" featuring Busta Rymes & Leezy Soprano has been buzzing on the streets. "Ahhh this record right here, this is a hot record Kokane Let's Go", Kokane jokingly imitates Busta describing the wordsmith's enthusiasm to bless the track. Having paid his dues in the industry Kokane explained how he came up with the catchy title to the new album. " It's like when you've been working a long time and there is so much blockage & people you intimidate". "I'm like I already paid the cost just Shut The F..K Up & Cut The Checc", Kokane concluded. An official video was shot for the album single entitled "Stay Winning".  "This song was to let my true G-Funk fans know I won't let you down, Stay Winning", Kokane explained. Another scorching joint "Pimpin Juice" featuring Snoop Dogg prodigy Mac Lucci of the Hustle Boyz is one to watch for. The track was produced by Ace Hood for Bud E Boy Entertainment.

Kokane told One West Magazine about his plans to re-invent himself. Although he feels the endless catalog of music that he has introduced to the streets over the years is still relevant, he is convinced he has yet to tap his fullest potential. Any fan of the storied artist should celebrate his frame of thinking with many more hits obviously being the final result.
