Gardena, California Artist/Journalist Damian "Flixx" Sanders (One West Magazine Editor)

Gardena, California Artist/Journalist Damian "Flixx" Sanders popped on the scene in 2000 after serving honorably in the United States Air Force and writing as Editor of the Los Angeles Southwest college newspaper. A story entitled "Security Policy Questioned At Amusement Park" aimed at Six Flags Magic Mountain was used as evidence in a multi-million dollar class action suit where minorities felt they were being unfairly treated by the theme parks security team. The theme park eventually settled out of court with the entire security staff being fired and replaced with local law enforcement. Sanders received "Writer Of the Quarter" honors and was offered an internship at the Los Angeles Sentinel Newspaper. Sanders featured as a contributing writer, most notably his Entertainment front page coverage of the Sean Puffy Combs and  Jamal "Shyne" Barrow nightclub shooting trial. With his thirst for Journalism somewhat satisfied with the accomplishment, Flixx decided it was time to put it on hold and pursue his second passion, Hip-Hop music.

In 2001 Flixx released his debut street album "Westcoastn" as one half of the group Hostyle Zone with fellow member C.E.S. An independent release under his imprint along with brother Alex Sanders Infirmary Records . The group received it's first break when they landed a spot on the 2002 Lion's Gates films movie soundtrack "Gang Tapes" with the hot song "Everyday" produced by Trendsett & featuring Al Greedy. The soundtrack saw appearances by Dj Quik, Hi-C, South Central Cartel,Coolio, LV, Eightball & MJG and more. The group would split up soon after and Flixx would continue on under the mentoring of Likwit Crew producer Bonzi J Wells. In 2004 Wells was fresh off the release of the blazing project "The Wolpac Mixtape" Vol.1 that featured the notorious tracks "I Didn't Change" by Kurupt and "The X-Homie" by J-Ro of the Liks. Sanders would lead the street team duties for Bonzi Records and go on to sell thousands of the project out of the trunk of his car. This relationship would continue  through 2005 with the release of "Digital Master" which featured hot music from Method Man, Bishop Lamont, & Mitchy Slick to name a few.

Having paid his dues and learning the business during his observation of the daily operations at Bonzi Records, Flixx was ready to begin a solo career. In 2006 Flixx finalized a distribution deal with Select-O-Hits with the help of another mentor Indie Power Ceo Jay Warsinski. "Politics & Pimpin" would be his first offering to the streets in more than four years. The lead single "The Dubb" produced by J Wells showed a growing talent who was becoming a force to be reckoned with. Also featured was the classic banger "The Hood" with fellow Gardena artist Jay Ridah & Spliff produced by Best Paul which aired on Power 106. More appearances included Stylistik Jones of the Likwit Crew, Bobby Bang, A-Plus, Presto Da Loc, & Q-ball. Flixx would go on to sell more than 7000 copies of his project out the trunks. This guerrilla tactic technique was first introduced to Flixx by his cousin Director/Actor/Artist Dex Elliott of Brown Rice Entertainment. Dex would teach Flixx everything there was to know about hustling on the streets. It would be something that proved to be the foundation of the rest of his life and career."I love the streets and all of the people I've met over the years", Flixx explained. "Anybody that's down to take they fate in there own hands can do it in a big way", Flixx went on to eloborate.

After spending sometime building the roster of Infirmary Records, Flixx returned to the scene in 2009 to release his first mixtape "Take Em 2 Da Infirmary" hosted by Sydney, Australia's DJ AGE. "Hell 2 Heaven" featuring Kurupt and produced by J Wells saw Flixx trading bars with one of his favorite MC's and Westcoast legend. Also notable was "Everyday Activities" featuring Stylistik Jones & Clinton Wayne produced by Best Paul. In 2011 Flixx came with the hood certified "Gardena Player Style" mixtape that showcased Gardena MC's Jay Ridah and The Phoulz on the classic "Gardena 90249 Remix".  Flixx teamed up with Tash of "Tha Liks" on "Grind Don't Stop" produced by Best Paul. The heatseeker also featured Mr. Nick Nice & Sage of the group "Since The Ages". The video "Real Niggaz" directed by Fatso Fasano with Stylie Ray and produced by Bronx, New York's HD Productions, saw the Gardena rapper just vibing out with friends. "That's how I like to do it, put some meat on the grill and have fun" said  Flixx.

Damian "Flixx" Sanders would return to writing in 2012 working for various publications as well as starting "The West West Yall" video countdown show . The production would showcase Westcoast based talent with live interview segments, performances, and behind the scenes footage. Not to neglect his love for music in 2013 Flixx released his artist Bobby Bang's "Corner Sto Music" mixtape hosted by DJ Cire of the Coast 2 Coast mixtape DJ's. He would also team up with Bobby Bang to form the crew "The Faction" releasing a self titled EP. Feeling the momentum Flixx also released "Take Em 2 Da Infirmary" pt.2. "I got lots of love for this project because it's the first one I recorded and mixed on my own". " I put new fresh talent on the project giving opportunities to artist that I feel I wasn't given", Flixx went on to explain. "Bang taught me a lot about recording and mixing and that took me to another level". "Now I'm able to do something for others that was hard for me to come by in the past when people didn't look out for you", Flixx continued.

In September 2013 Damian Sanders accepted the offer to join the staff of One West Magazine bringing his expertise of Journalism and love for hip-hop music to our publication. "I love promoting the artist and being a part of there development, shout out to OG Cuicide for the opportunity, It's all love Gardena to Compton". "I've learned a lot about succeeding against all odds and & I'm honored to be apart of the One West movement", said Sanders.
